Eating healthy, nutritious food can be delicious. Eating well can be simple. You can eat better to feel better.
You can live your life AND eat healthy food.
So, you want to eat better? You want to eat and make healthier foods at home but don’t know where to start? You want to eat well, feel good and not spend hours in the kitchen?
The stress of not knowing what to eat or when to eat it, not being able to figure out what foods are actually good for you, and what nutrients your body needs the most can be overwhelming. Between all the confusing nutrition information and the latest fad diets that are overloading the internet, it’s hard to know if you’ll actually be able to stick with all the healthy-living suggestions everyone is giving you.
Eating well does not need to be this challenging.
I’m Rebecca Dwyre, a Registered Holistic Nutritionist in Kitchener-Waterloo, ON.
I have a simple approach to healthy eating – I focus on real, unprocessed and wholesome foods and I will never, ever, ever believe in dieting… ever! I think that nutritious food can delicious food. And I believe a balanced lifestyle that’s loaded with different kinds of fruits and veggies is key to a healthy life. Homemade is always the best and that cooking should be fun, and never stressful.
And I love eating REAL food.
But it hasn’t always been this way for me.
It was in 2012 when I actually started to care about the foods I was putting in my body. I was living on a grad student budget (which of course did not allow me to hire a personal chef or order in every night). So there I was trying to figure out healthy eating, grocery shopping and meal planning fully aware of the fact that whole grain pasta with low-sodium pasta sauce from a jar would get old fast.
Starting out I struggled to come up with meal ideas that I knew I would like (and my husband would like too). I had the worst time trying to find recipes that used the ingredients I wanted to eat and ones that wouldn’t break the bank. I found staying organized with my menu plan, and grocery lists and my stack of new recipes was so difficult. And as much as I was starting to enjoy cooking, I didn’t want to spend hours and hours in the kitchen every night.
I’ve totally been there!
But before long, my healthy eating confidence was growing with every meal. And the best part? I was feeling great. This new way of eating I adopted – simple, homemade, real food meals with lots fresh vegetables, healthy fats and lean proteins – had me feeling better about myself, having more energy than ever before, and developing a passion for all things good food and nutrition that I couldn’t wait to share with everyone I knew! I even share the recipes I create over at nourished. the blog!
